Behind The Screen
Hi, I'm Astitva.
I’m not here to read textbook slides at you. I’m here because I lived through the deep end of these spirals and built my own way back.
Lived Experience: Battled schizophrenia firsthand and built emotional resilience through the fire.
Philosophical Foundation: Studied university philosophy for a year; authored the poetry book The Fire Within.
Grounded Release: High-altitude motorcycle expeditions through Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh; avid reader of Dostoevsky.
The Mission: Founder of Cognize under Eunoia Ventures Pvt. Ltd.—rethinking student mental health infrastructure.
Loop 01 • Autonomy Deficit
24 hours feel short all day, then infinite at 2:00 AM.
The Stolen DayClasses, exams, parental expectations, group chats. None of your waking hours belong to you.
The RebellionMidnight is the only window where nobody demands anything from you. So you refuse to go to sleep.
The PriceA circadian crash, waking up groggy, and starting the exact same deficit the next morning.
Loop 02 • The Pseudo-Rest Trap
You're tired, so you scroll reels. Is your brain resting?
The IllusionLying horizontally feels like downtime, so we convince ourselves we are recharging.
The RealityEvery 15-second swipe triggers micro-appraisals: envy, threat, laughter, outrage. Your nervous system remains on red alert.
The ResultYou close the app 45 minutes later more mentally fatigued than when you sat down.
Loop 03 • All-Or-Nothing Paralysis
The canyon between "I need to start" and starting.
The Myth"I'm just lazy and undisciplined."
The TruthProcrastination is an emotional defense mechanism against producing flawed work. If you don't start, your self-worth stays safe.
The SpiralThe delay narrows your time window, forces a frantic deadline panic, and validates your fear that work is traumatic.
Loop 04 • The Dopamine Floor
Your brain with 47 browser tabs running at once.
The Dopamine BarConstant short-form stimuli elevate the baseline stimulation threshold your brain expects.
The FrictionReading a 10-page paper or writing code provides zero flashing lights, so your brain registers calm work as physical agitation.
The FragmentationWe check our phone every 3.5 minutes, constantly dropping working memory packets on the floor.
Circuit Breaker 01 • Autonomy Anchors
Give the day some freedom back, so the night doesn't steal it.
Anchor your AutonomyBlock 30 unscheduled minutes before 6 PM. No productivity, no guilt. Just exist. If your brain gets to breathe at 4 PM, it won't rebel at 2 AM.
The 10:30 DealAt 10:30 PM, actively choose what the last 20 minutes are for (a show, a song, a chat). A chosen, intentional ending always beats an accidental 2 AM blackout.
Fixed Wake TimeKeep one wake-up time, even on weekends. Your body clock follows the wake-up, and sleepiness builds naturally by night.
Circuit Breaker 02 • Real Rest
Rest your body for real. Stop outsourcing it to an algorithm.
Name It FirstBefore opening the app, ask: "Am I tired, or am I avoiding something?" If you are tired, lie in the dark and actually rest. Scrolling is high-input.
Friction EngineeringCharge the phone across the room. Make starting a doomscroll require standing up and taking 5 physical steps. Friction kills impulses faster than willpower.
A Rest MenuBuild a menu of low-input rest. Stretch, step outside, or listen to music without lyrics. Downshift your nervous system intentionally.
Circuit Breaker 03 • Lower the Stakes
Make starting so small and ugly that it can't threaten your ego.
The "Garbage Draft" RuleGive yourself explicit permission to write the absolute worst 100 words possible. Call the file "trash_draft_v1". Action creates clarity, not vice versa.
The 5-Minute DoorSet a 5-minute timer and give yourself permission to stop entirely when it rings. Most of the time you won't stop, because starting was the only hard part.
If-Then PlanningDecide in advance: "If it's 4 PM, I open the doc." When you slip, forgive yourself quickly. Self-forgiveness drastically reduces future procrastination.
Circuit Breaker 04 • Baseline Reset
Retrain your baseline until boring feels okay again.
Boredom RepsSingle-task for 25 minutes, then break for 5. If 25 minutes hurts too much, start at 10 minutes. You are literally rehabilitating an atrophied muscle.
Batch the ChecksMute everything except real people. Check your apps at set times, not every 3.5 minutes. Break the slot-machine reflex.
Phone Out of ReachFor deep work, put the phone in another room, not face-down on the desk. Out of sight removes the subconscious cognitive load of ignoring it.
Eunoia Ventures • Project Cognize
Mental health built for students, not generic corporate apps.
Gen-Z India doesn't need another generic mood-tracker or breathing circle animation. We need tools built specifically around academic velocity, competitive dread, and identity formation.
"We are building infrastructure that addresses the root loops, not just putting band-aids on the symptoms."
Shape The Future
Help us build the infrastructure you wish existed.
This survey isn't a formality. Your raw, honest inputs directly determine what features, tools, and support systems Cognize will build next.
"Your responses shape how the mental health infrastructure will look in Gen-Z India."
